They are vintage engine specialists and stock a wide range of obsolete pistons and piston rings.

vhgmcbuddyMemberGareth still has them listed on his Howard Gems site:
https://howardgem.webs.com/decalshelp.htm
dont know how the BJ crank is made, but the Aussie Junior is an assembled crank
and is practically unbrakeable. that said, it is also true that having more components,
there are more things can go wrong with it. a scored piston would indicate serious dirt
in crankcase, and or lack of oil. just to ‘go ahead and make your day’ i have to say it,
this all adds up to more bad news for all mechanical parts.looking on the bright side, the more things to fix, the more fun we have fixing them!
cheers Rod.

vhgmcbuddyMemberJust remember to make sure that your missus isn’t watching her favourite TV program when you first fire the Norton beast up. Unsuppressed ignition systems play havoc with digital telly reception!!!!

vhgmcbuddyMemberStrange , every 56A I’ve seen have had wico magnetos.
Perhaps I have expressed my self in a way that was misunderstood. I will try to clarify my blurry information. I hope you all have some forgiveness on my English; the language is not my mother-tongue.
In Sweden it seems that the Simar model 56 exist in three different model types A, E and AE. So far the information I have, suggests that “E” is the 56A produced by Geo Monro that was exported to several countries including Sweden. What I Sweden is three different model names, is only one, 56A, in other countries. Why the 56A got the name 56E in Sweden (and not elsewhere?) is to me unknown. The best suggestion so far is that the “E” stands for “Exported”. Earlier I have got the suggestion that it stand for England.
So far I don’t have any information on the AE model, I still searching for a machine with serial number to try to figure it out if it is a Geo Monro manufactured rototiller or from the SIMAR original factory. I hope Charlie might help me with that when I have found a serial number on a AE machine. In Sweden I have only seen “A” on machines that are produced by the Switzerland SIMAR factory in Genève.
In short I guess that the Geo Monro Simar 56 is called E and AE in Sweden but not elsewhere and the same machines are named 56A in UK.
In my instruction manual printed in 1952, the models 20, 21, 35A, 35C, 35AE, C 31, C 51-54, 55 A-B, 56A, 56AE, 56E, C80-81, 70C and 60A are included. When it give information upon the magneto, it is first stated that on the Simar machines use the following brands, Bosch, Bohli, Per-Avia, Wico and Scintilla. Earlier in the text there are instructions on how to oil the machines. For 35AE, 56E and 56AE it is stated that they are equipped with a Wico magneto that needs to be oiled every 200 hours with low viscosity oil.

vhgmcbuddyMemberCorrect me if I am wrong Geoff, but I am sure I have seen it mentioned elsewhere on the forum that points ignition systems don’t like spark plugs with resistors in them.

vhgmcbuddyMemberToday i found my manual in Swedish for Simar rototillers. I attach some photos. To my surprise the manual not only give the model 56A and 56E but also model 56AE. Most specifications are the same for the three “models” but 56E and AE should have 3,5 kg oil in the gear box and 56A 4,5 kg. The E and AE have a wico magneto 56A not. The fuel filter is in the fuel tap together with the glass knob on model E and AE and in the fuel hose in A. The only difference I can find between E and AE are different jets for the carburettor. The E should have 70, 65 & 40 for first hours drive, normal & idling AE 75, 70 & 40.
Perhaps it interest some that SIMAR 35 also was sold in Sweden in a type AE with the only difference fron 35A and C that it had a AMAL carburettor and should have less oil in the gear box (3 kg instead for 3,5).
