hitchinsmParticipantI was hoping someone would engage her in the timing of a BSA engine, offering her money if she could do it. I think its called crowdfunding 5p each would have been a laugh.

hitchinsmParticipantIgnore all the sensible advice and shove a cheap and not very cheerful Honda knock off (your words) on it. First of all take out medical insurance, as you will be running at 3000 rpm plus instead of roughly 1500 rpm so you will need to run behind the machine in a vague attempt at controlling it.Please read what people have spent their time advising you on.

hitchinsmParticipantIf you look around the outer edge of the flywheel you will see 1/2″ dia holes drilled in it which where used to balance the flywheel. Put a 1/2 bar in the deepest one of them and undo the nut. The strap wrenches are not very good as they spring to much. A puller is best used to pull the flywheel off, lump hammers are best avoided.

hitchinsmParticipantBelieve it or not the original ones where made in Australia, but for whatever reason they disappeared after a few years. They are available on Ebay if you think £18.50 plus international shipping is expensive do not bother.

hitchinsmParticipantAre you by any chance in Ireland?
February 16, 2015 at 11:16 pm #11720
hitchinsmParticipantYes, I have fitted hundreds. I do not waste a micro second with points and condensers.Engine starts easier, no kick backs and ignition timing is set automatically,so the engine runs a lot smoother.

hitchinsmParticipantA somber warning, he was probably hit with something in the region of 26,000 volts. I see that level of voltage often when testing coils. Luckily my finger is on the insulated button and i lean over to press it.

hitchinsmParticipantIf you need anything for the engine, I have pretty well everything in stock.
