Joe, it could be because you are not a paid up club member. If you are please send me a personal message with name and address.

Glad to hear you got it all apart. Bush BS20 is an oilite bush and should be obtainable from a good bearing supplier. It will help if you can take the old bush, casing and shaft along so they can measure it, unfortunately the parts list only gives the length.

I have had a look at one of the Atom 15’s I have and can see the end of the shaft and keyway. Looking at inside flange of the pulley there appears to be a grub screw in line with the keyway.
Have you slackened/removed the grub screw?

DA1502F is the part number for that half of the case. Looking at the diagram it appears the pulley is a push fit on the shaft, it may be a case of supporting the pulley, applying heat gently and then pressing it off the shaft. You will not be able to remove the key with the pulley on. I will see if I can get to my Barford Atom 15 buried in the shed and if it is an early one see if I can see how the pulley is held on.

Part number BSK 3/16″R is a key for the pulley. Do you know the serial number of your machine? It is probably before A2493.

I have had another look at parts books and have found there is a difference between the gearboxes shown in the combined 15/30 book and the earlier 15 book. It appears you have the earlier 15 gearbox, extract from book below will show what you have. Only leaves question of how does it come apart?

I would try a drop of fuel in the plug hole, replace plug and give it a swing see if it fires. Could be a blocked jet in the carb.

It really does pay to spend a few pounds getting the magneto right. A new coil etc for the magneto on my old Hayter produces an excellent spark.

To remove the pulley you need to split the gearbox to gain access to the nut on the inside, part DA1604T, this will enable you to unscrew the pulley (lh thread). To split gearbox remove all nuts and bolts, 8 I think, then gently tap around joint with soft hammer or use hammer and a piece of wood. This should ease the gearbox case apart.

The wire from the switch not being connected will not stop the engine running. However if the end from the engine is touching any of the metalwork it could as it will be earthing the ignition.
