The Trusty Earthquake is fairly simple to operate. Standing at the rear facing forward lever on left hand handle bar is the clutch, not clear from the photo but it looks as if your machine has a throttle control on the right hand side. The original engine was governor controlled, no throttle lever. On the right hand side of gearbox is the gear lever, all the way forward should be reverse, then as you come back neutral, first, neutral, second and if a three speed gearbox, neutral, third. Lever on back of gearbox is to engage drive to rotavator tines. Depth control is the spring loaded bolt/pin at very back which is used to adjust depth skid. Depending on ground conditions do not try to go full depth on first pass, go in stages. If trying too much in one go machine will tend to jump or even stall depending on ground. Hope this helps.

I dread to think what those springs for the tines cost! A recent booklet I bought from Donald Jones in the USA via that online auction site shows a shock absorber for the other type of tines, see photo.

serial number doe snot seem to fit in range on the information I have. A5 are 4 digit serial numbers, 623? would be correct circa 1029-30.

Is there an air leaf where carb bolts on, you say you took it off. My old Trusty had the same carb and to start it I had to hold my hand over the air inlet, with air filter disconnected, this made sure it pulled plenty of fuel through.

2 ton on unbraked trailer!!! tut, tut. Could have been worse, you could have gone down Birdlip hill instead.

s1g, what size, width and tooth profile do the tyres have? We use belts, like a cam belt on machines where I work. When they are replaced they still have good teeth. I could salvage the old ones for anyone to use as tyres.

Welcome to the forum. Can you post a picture of your Bantam/200 this would help identify which it is. Note 3072KB file limit for photos etc, you may need to use software such as shrinkpic to reduce file size.

    Stuart, wristpin, thanks for advice.
hitchinsm, not shown is the float bowl which clearly says WALBRO made in USA and the model letters LMG agree with WALBRO model numbers.

Don’t forget to let Dave Clark know the serial number for the register. Sometimes wish I had not sold my MG2.
