First fill up with petrol and ,I knew it….a none seating highly worn fuel shut off brass valve. I will add now some pictures of the Villiers carb as no model no visible. hoping someone will steer me in the right direction so I can order one from George.

Have decided to stop making a mess of the grass box and give it a coat of paint. when its dry will take outside and see what it looks like. if its very noticeable some filler will be applied to the most damaged areas. then repaint and look again.

I used office picture manager until my son said most cameras can be set to take smaller photos. Now I set to email attachment size 1m 1024×768, when transferred to the computer and they upload on here with no resizing.

HI Darren,
The plate denotes it’s a 14″ built in 1949.
I susspect this is authentic as it is very similar to my old machine built in 1954.
Models didn’t seem to change much from year to year at that time.

Looks like you’re going to have a busy christmas in the garage. I bet it’ll be finished by Boxing Day! If its any help cheap wooden rolling pins off ebay can make good replacement rollers for the front.

The grass collector is under going some panel beating as we have found that the box has had a few minor collisions in its 60 odd years on this planet. will come straight out and admit that its a job for the experts as the more I try to correct it, the collector develops a dint some where else. I am going to do the best I can with it and then I cannot say that I did not try.

hi. I found that as well but the aging process of paint colour change is slowed down dramatically to zero when the sun cannot reach it directly. never the less once you get a new coat of the proper colour in place you will feel a lot happier
