    I am sure Geoff will correct me if I am wrong but I think the chain drive is for this. It looks just as lethal as it sounds in the description.

    MGE 1827 is the individual engine number and dates to some time in 1950. However this may not be the correct date for the machine as the engines were sometimes changed.

    As requested some more photos of the workings. I think the central toggle controls which cylinder the water goes to.

    Another unknown Sprinkler

    Thanks for the information alan. With this I managed to find another post on the forum dealing with a different sprinkler but showing an advert for this one. Obviously I was wrong thinking it was a pump where it is apparently a sprinkler.

    Geoff the central arm move side to side and has a toothed rack on it. This connects with a toothed gear below that actually makes the output shaft (photo 2) rotate side to side. I guess this is where the sprinkler head fits. I will take a couple more photos when I am in the shed next weekend.

    That is useful. I didn’t realise you could upload entire documents. When I translated an Italian trusty advert I copied it all in to translate manually.

    There maris piper. We left it a bit late to buy the sets and so were limited on choice.
