Hi, Whereabouts did it leak from?
The axles don’t actually have seals…. They have bronze bushes, which will allow a small amount of oil past. however if there is severe wear on both the shaft and bushes then lots will leak out!
My series 2 Farmers Boy required both a new shaft turning and new bushes fitting to make it almost oil tight. Have a…[Read more]

The trade mark I believe related to the spelling ‘rotavator’……. I’ve seen many a machine named as a ‘rotovator’……. as well as roto-hoe.
The early Gem before it wad called a Gem was called a Rote-ho. So yet another play with words and spellings!

Hi guys, thanks for the positives……I too read that my article had been ‘altered’ I have the original piece, and I can assure you the words ‘2 stroke’ are not there……. I will advise Peter Love of his editorial ‘faux pas’ and hopefully he will add a correction in part 2 of my piece!

Have dug a little deeper into these discs….. They are actually Planet Jr discs on a home made frame…… albeit very well designed and made. The discs are actually blue under the orange…. With no signs of any other colour previously. I have removed each set of 3 from the frame and cut through the brazing to relaease the original PJ arm from…[Read more]

I picked these up from a chap in Nottingham yesterday, mainly for the Planet Jr disc set on it. However, I wondered if anyone could help with identifying the maker of the frame or if they have ever seen one before. It could also be homemade, but its designed and functions very well, leading me to think it could’ve been produced by a…[Read more]
