According to the SIMAR website it dates from circa 1969/70. If I get it running and working it may well be at Weeley.

I don’t have any information on the Amal 124 carb unfortunately. Valve on float should close before float chamber floods.

It could be float height or valve not closing on seat properly.

Another enjoyable day spent at MERL, 8 boxes of drawings now catalogued, approx 1900 drawings. Among the interesting finds are a few drawings dated 1957 referring to a Monro Tiller series 4 and another showing parts only used on Monro Tiller for Canadian market. One box of untitled or un-numbered drawings to do then a review of the other group and possible recording of those.

Another possibilty is joint between pipe and olive is cracked.

It sounds as if the olive on the end of the pipe is worn or damaged, or the fitting in bottom of float bowl is damaged. Nut on pipe should pull olive on end of pipe up tight into the fitting on float bowl.

What carb is it? Does the banjo on the pipe have a fibre washer on both sides where it bolts to the carb? Have you tried new washers?

Picard and Pictet were UK importers pre 1930. Looking on other SIMAR websites this model is different to any listed. When weather is better and ground has dried out it would be good to recover it, although way beyond restoration.

Oddly enough I made a similar comment about Time Team to the person that sent me the photos. Like you no luck with patent numbers.

Yes the same Geo Monro of Station Approach, Waltham Cross. I have two Monro Minors which are earlier models with the Villiers 7F vertical crank 2 stroke engines.

Pete I can confirm your mystery machine is a Monro Minor or Crunchtiller, the yellow colour and traces of transfer confirm it is a later machine from Mechanised Gardening,Great Gransden, Cambridgeshire; they ceased trading a good few years ago now. The second photo shows the part number MM1 ie Monro Minor 1, most parts for the Monro Minor had similar numbers.I know from the time I have spent helping catalogue them most drawings for parts are held at MERL.
