charlieKeymasterThat piece of film is included on the DVD ‘Dibbers & Dungarees’ by Mary Spiller.
Factory records show Rototiller model 56 serial number 560151 went to Miss B Havergal at Waterperry School of Horticulture on 21st March 1949.
About 47 years ago my parents attended a series of Saturday gardening classes at Waterperry and Miss Havergal was one of the teachers. My brother and I spent the time in the canteen at Waterperry while mum & dad where having instruction in gardening techniques. What I didn’t realise at the time was the significant role Miss Havergal played in horticultural education of women.
There is an interesting museum on site.April 17, 2017 at 8:23 am #24974
charlieKeymasterMust watch that on i player. If it is the piece of film I think it is then it was filmed at Waterperry near Oxford, a gardening college for ladies set up by Miss Havergal.

charlieKeymasterYou will need to fill in the necessary exhibitors entry for your exhibits. Camping is not adjacent to exhibits, it depends which section you are in and which exhibitors campsite you are in as to how far away you are. I am sure one of the regular exhibitors will be able to give more information.

charlieKeymasterWell worth checking wires to condenser and points, I remember my father had a problem with his Monro Tiller and it was one of the wires had broken inside the flexible covering.

charlieKeymasterInteresting, I wonder what Land Rover components they used? Looking at the photo it may have only been engine and gearbox.

charlieKeymasterUnavailability of correct tyre size is a problem on a number of machines, eg Monro Tiller, Barford Mechanical Gardener, Gunsmith etc.

charlieKeymasterIf examples of this mower are already in collections or museums then at least some examples have been saved. With non existant spares the only way to get spares is to break these machines then the parts are going to a good use.

charlieKeymasterTo give some idea of what is within this collection (TR DX 493 and TR DX 1607):-
2553 drawings cataloged.
1689 parts identifiable by part number.
1813 can be matched with a specific model of machine.
762 relate to various models of Rototiller, mostly model 56.
205 relate to Monro Minor.
304 relate to Monro Tiller all types.
256 relate to Rowtrac.
There are still some to be cataloged and those in TR DX 493 need looking at again to identify part numbers and model where possible.March 3, 2017 at 9:26 am #24606
charlieKeymasterWhat is it worth, is a question we are often asked and is very much in the ‘How long is a bit of string’ category. It is probably something less than you hope and a bit more than anyone wants to pay.
Value really is only what someone is willing to pay and depends on so many variables such as condition, even location will make a difference.
I hope you enjoy owning and using this machine, Hayter are a good make, I have a couple in my collection. -
