Trying to get a new spark plug I contacted The Green Spark Plug Company. The plug I have is an old Wipac F20 with 22mm thread. Steve from Green Spark Plug Co suggested JAP only used 14mm and 18mm plugs. This supports the suggestions that it is not a JAP and may well be Emery’s own.

I took the Emery to the Lotmead event and one thought was it could be a motorcycle engine, but no suggestions as to make.

Huge thanks to Jim, Karen and everyone involved in organising and setting up the weekend. Great to meet other members and special thanks to Bryan for providing food for the BBQ on Saturday evening. Looking forward to next years event.

SIMAR 50 and 56 loaded up. If Tom is bringing his 56 as well it might be a good idea if everyone brings ear plugs!!!!

According to 70 Years of Garden Machinery it was a JAP engine, 2 1/2 or 3hp. Universal model was shown at 1950 Royal Smithfield Show, cost £85.

Chris, now I have had a second look I agree with you, it was the wheels that threw me off the scent.

There is a very good French website for SIMAR which includes a copy of the manual for the 35 & 56 page 14 shows ratchets and pawls etc.

Looking through some old photos I found this dating from 2007. It was taken at the Science Museum store at Wroughton. At the time I did not know what it was, I do now.

Tom no need to book in just turn up, the more the merrier. See map for location, turn off A419, follow Merlin Way, Wanborough Road. I may well take my 56 with soil shedder.

560204 was delivered on 11-5-49 toG P Skripka, Smallholding, Sandy Lane, Billingham, Co Durham. Certainly not the original carb. When you say it does not sound like others, is it 4 stroking? Exhaust is not original either.

harpy you need to reduce your photo file size, this can be done using windows picture manager or software such as shrink pic. max file size is 3072 KB.
To date your howard look for the serial number see this link for where to find number.

harpy, welcome to the forum. For carb spares you could try Burlen at Salisbury. If you have an early Gem be very careful engaging reverse as it was possible to engage reverse whilst still in a forward gear which does not do the gears any good and will strip teeth.
