Pete, spectator camping is a good distance from where the horticultural section is, usually near working tractors, (see map) so anything brought to display in the club stand would have to be light enough to carry easily. What do you have?

I am not aware of any additive that would stop the leak.
The bolts/screws should come out with care. The trick is take your time, use of heat may well help if they are tight. Worst case scenario is the heads break off. If this happens all is not lost as it may be possible to weld a nut on the remains (the heat of doing this often helps free the bolt). Last resort is drilling them out. All part of the fun and challenges of our hobby.

There should be a nut on the bottom of the gearbox, see photograph, this holds the pump in place. Note earlier machines did not have a pump. Series 2 machines from serial number 4298 had pumps fitted. This was at the start of 1955 production.

Yes it is the same company. According to 70 Years of Garden Machinery, the Rowtrac was designed in the late 1920’s by William Catchpole. The first tractors were made for him by Robert Roby Ltd, Bury St Edmunds. Geo Monro bought the patent rights in the early 1930’s.

The brass worm wheel is worn but not as bad as some I have seen where you could cut your finger on the edge of the teeth due excess wear. I think it should be OK. It would be horrendously expensive to make. The drawings are at MERL !!!. I do have a spare which is in slightly better condition if you should want to change it.

I will give said wallet a good dusting with DDT, if I can find it, the wallet not the DDT, I know where that is. That way it will avoid any issues with moths and related diseases, also you wont know if it is dust from lack of use or DDT when (if) I open it. Are the white £5 notes still OK to use, what about the £1 notes too?

Good to hear from you. Bearings and seals will be imperial sizes, not metric, this will make them harder to find and more expensive if UK prices are anything to go by. If I can find anything about sizes of these I will let you know.

Value is very subjective, especially as we collect items for their interest not monetary value.

As far as I know there is only one known example, so yes they are rare and no they do not turn up often.
