charlieKeymasterI’ve not been able to view any of the OP’s images on the iPad – suspect that they may be a higher resolution than the system likes
The forum limits image file size to a maximum of 5072KB, trying to post anything larger will give an error at time of posting. All 6 images on the post open OK on pc/laptop.November 15, 2020 at 8:19 am #35816
charlieKeymasterAs membership secretary and having the required information on the membership list I feel I will have to exclude myself from giving the answer having something of an advantage.

charlieKeymasterI have never dealt with Chester so cannot comment from personal experience, I have heard both good and bad about how he deals with customers from those that have.

charlieKeymasterThe issues around insurance came about as a result of changes to the RTA and the designation of certain areas as ‘public places’ this includes shows and rally fields. The machine does not need to be registered, taxed or tested but does need RTA cover. Make sure the insurers know it is for shows and rallies and not for driving on the road. They will need a serial number of the machine so the insurance can be linked to tat particular machine.

charlieKeymasterGeoff, the attitude of those walkers is typical of so many now. We have the same problem within the green laning community that think they can drive where they like and drive the legal lanes whenever they like irrespective of conditions and any damage they cause. The usual response is its only a bit of fun and not doing any harm. If only they would realise the harm it does to the lanes and the ammunition it gives the anti groups.

charlieKeymasterIt’s not all the fault of the virus but more the Covidiots that will not follow guidance and insist on ignoring the rules; you may have seen in the news this weekend the illegal rave at Yate with 600-700 attending.
The restrictions on movement and cancelled shows certainly saved me some money in fuel costs! Although since restrictions were lifted I have put in a good few miles with another hobby of mine, I am a member of GLASS (Green Lane Association) and have been busy out and about surveying lanes to add comments to the database GLASS have. These travels, all within 30 miles or so of home, took me to remote places and down country lanes I would never have travelled otherwise, some great views and scenery.
I haven’t done as much as I could or should on the garden machinery front, very slow progress on a Barford Councillor.
Like Alan I can’t wait for things to get back to normal so I can get back to MERL, there is still a lot of work to be done cataloguing the Geo Monro drawings.October 27, 2020 at 8:04 am #35689

charlieKeymasterWelcome to the club, you have come to the right place for Monro information.
I am the club custodian of the factory records, your machine was despatched on 23-2-60 and delivered on 24-3-60, unfortunately the customers name and address are not recorded for this one. The source (dealer) is shown as Walter Wood, invoice number is 35463 and it would appear they were in W Sussex as other machines from the same source have gone to customers in that area.
The original colour is an odd metallic, sort of hammer finish, blue/green/grey mix.
If you need an owners manual let me know (see my advert in the club magazine, The Cultivator).October 23, 2020 at 7:01 am #35645
charlieKeymasterThen of course there is Rototiller. First used I believe by SIMAR but later becoming a US company name.

charlieKeymasterI sent an e mail to the publishers of the modern day version of The Covent Gardener. They were delighted with the information, unaware that the title existed back in 1933. They were so impressed a short article and copy of the front cover from 1933 is to appear in their Winter edition. I have included details of the VHGMC which I hope they print.
