The British Pathe archive has a number of interesting films. I found one years ago ‘The horse a thing of the past’ which starts with a demonstration of various road sweeping and cleaning machines and ends (from 4:10 onwards) with a Rototiller 10 working on a football pitch, possibly Wembley.

Image file needs compressing as it is too large (5072KB limit), see following for details about resizing images

Rob, if you can post some photographs of engine etc it will help with identifying engine and trying resolve problems with wiring etc

£11.26 sounds cheap for a coil, I usually pay around £50-£70 for a Villiers type coil using reputable suppliers on line.

Could you get a good photograph of the gauge face and then photoshop it to fill in the missing bits?

The following diagram of the Villiers flywheel magneto can be found at https://www.historywebsite.co.uk/Museum/Engineering/Villiers/Villiers9.htm
This should help explain the circuit.

Ken I have sent you some scanned literature and will dig my Jetiller out of the ‘to do’ projects pile and take some photographs.
It is interesting to know that at least two of these machines survive.

If the video is the one I think it is, that is my Monrotiller and trailer (you tube name rototiller56).
If you are having problems signing up for paid membership this is an alternative link https://vhgmc.co.uk/mem-reg/

strutchr, you are in the right place, as trusty220 has said I am the man with the Monro information. I have sent you a pm. I have owners manual including parts list for machine and engine. Look after those tyres as they are an obsolete size and no longer available.
The Monro Tiller series 3 has 3 forward and reverse gears, the earlier series 1 and 2 machines only had two forward gears and no reverse. Ratchet hubs are fitted enabling one or both wheels to rotate freely. 4 different types of time were available for the rotavator and there were a selection on other attachments including cutter bar, cylinder mower, pump, generator, trailer etc.
The original engineering drawings are in the archives at Museum of Rural Life (MERL), Reading, where I have been helping to catalogue them.
Not to sure the Monro is any lighter than a Lister D but it does have the advantage of been on wheels.

If the manufacturer cannot supply a date I would guess it is unlikely anyone else can. One possibility is if parts changed over time, if so the parts list may give some indication of date and at what serial number change was made. Have you tried contacting your local Kubota dealer?

Old catalogues are always a good source of information.
