Wishing all of you a healthy and happy Christmas…….. may all your nuts and bolts undo easily , your magnetos spark , and your fuel flow.

    Above all stay safe.

I’m at long last using a fuel addative (the Briggs and Stratton one) , early days yet , as my fuel is seldom kept that long , but starting and running issues are non existant…….. expensive , but it seems so far like money well spent.

Good day , and a warm welcome to our forum. A truly lovely machine you have there , and it appears to be in full working order.
I have long thought that the continental machines were light years ahead of our offerings , reverse gear , reversable ploughs , and overall build quality, Alot of ours(but not all) were cumbersome , cronic to use with no reverse , and coventional ploughs.

If the felt is still intact , simply wash it in petrol , dry it thoroughly and put a couple of drops of engine oil on it , squeaze gently between thumb and forefinger…….job done.

“I agree that the Bingham working days were fun and it’s a shame when these things develop into competitions because the fun aspect tends to get forgotten and the pursuit of prizes is all consuming.”

Absolutely spot on , the very reason that I never have , or will get involved in ploughing events.

Only my opinion , but I would NEVER skimp when it comes to magneto components , it’s worth every penny to renew all the components , it will give you effortless starting every time.
Forget about testing with a multimeter , there is a very good reason why purpose built ignition testers were made.
George at villiersparts used to do the complete kit for the 25c , he may still do , either way he would be able to supply all the parts that you’ll need.
The cam that you refer to is the “electronic govenor” , if you tease it GENTLY with a suitable screwdriver you should be able to just open it , if it’s opening and closing OK , then simply leave it alone.

Peter , any chance of a pic of your govenor weight housing assembly.
Can you manually rev the engine and feel the govenor working??

Peter , you’ll get there , the various throttle systems on JAPs are all fairly straightforward.

Measure the diameter of the two pulley wheels and the centre to centre of the shafts ,allow 1/2″for the clutch give these figures to your belt supplier and he should be able to supply.
