    I have a Big 4 manual, I’ll put a link to it. The main difference to the bike engine is the drive side main shaft, it’s tapered for the engine sprocket on the bike but it’s plain on the trusty to attach the Trusty centrifugal clutch.

    I’ve put your reques in the Cultivator, Joe, I’ve put some feelers out on Facebook but nothing yet. Having done a search on Google I found a link to Lavington….

    You don’t need to convince us that it fills a hole in your collection, Geoff, however there’s a higher authority who may have a view! Nice job, by the way….

    Wow, what a fascinating article. I had a petrol generator with a wartime JAP 5 on it, it had a Wico mag. with a metal top and screened plug for RF interference protection and a JAP carb. It had been refurbished in Reme workshops.

    My brother-in-law planted some spuds in two tubs, as an experiment, he filled one to the top, the other he earthed up a couple of times. I found three old ones in the bottom of my tater bag with 2 – 3″ sprouts so I put them in a tub and earthed up a couple of times, we shall see what appears! Tops are looking good, the taters came from Collins at Bromham, which is a sort of mini garden of England between Devizes and Chippenham, here in Wiltshire.

    Dad and I used his merry tiller to bout up the potatoes but we used the basic rotors (finger tines), they are narrow enough and give good traction.

    3/16″ = 0.1875″ or 4.76 mm

    To move onto your generator, it looks like a Tuscan, 110 volt DC which were used with Tarpen accessories – a nice new avenue of collecting, there are plenty of 110 volt Tarpen hedgetrimmers out there, also chainsaws, mowers and even little tillers! It also doesn’t matter if they are AC or DC, as the brush type motors that Tarpen used will run on either!

    47mm = 1.85″, 20mm = 0.784″, 14mm = 0.551″ so not equivalent to Imperial sizes.

    Well, they don’t do a press pass but they did send me two wrist bands free to enter the show! I will find their Facebook page and make a donation!

    Fuel allowance? Now there’s a novel idea! I shall go on the Saturday – I wonder if they’ll do a press pass….
