ParticipantHi sorry for not replying sooner but have not been on site for some time.
I use a 10in plough and get on well, competing regularly around the country. Yes it is Fergy plough parts which work well and are interchangeable with the full range of mould boards.
I have seen a member who ploughs with the smaller plough and also is successful.November 15, 2016 at 9:01 am #23130sjmellors675gmail-com

ParticipantHi all
Great to see the modern and classic tractors, just goes to show that a “Open” class would be a great way of attracting more new and enthusiastic participants, as well as the fantastic and inventive present members. There is a vast number of these semi modern compact tractors out there just waiting to be given the opportunity to be involved in our great competitions. Its got to be the way forward for the club. I know the true vintage diehards will bristle at the thought of more modern machines being encompassed within the club but any society needs to move on all the time and be dynamic.
Good on you chaps lets see you all again. Create the need for the class!
See you on the field when I am fit again, with various combinations!September 28, 2015 at 9:27 pm #14662sjmellors675gmail-com
ParticipantHi Sam yes that was me. Surprising result.

ParticipantThanks Charlie. I believe a good and open discussion can only enhance the whole club, and go towards attracting new members.

ParticipantThat conversion looks novel and there are many such modifications in the tractor world, not all by the original manufacturer. The converted Trusty’s in our own little world.
There would appear to be members with different criteria for the club. Those who restore and show their prized models and others like myself who enjoy the working of our old bits of kit. I really want to produce a good plot of ploughing with my old plough! Start and finish!!
If I could find a suitable Horty tractor I would only be too pleased. But again there are potential new active ploughmen if there were a little more tolerance. I have not had any adverse comment over my MG40 but if I were to be truly competitive I am sure there would be some rumblings.
Everyone to their own, at least we have the means of a discussion. -
