charlieKeymasterAs far as I know all model 56 had reverse and I have not heard the theory that is what the A indicated. Serial number 560101 was delivered on 24-1-1949 to P Harsham, Coddington, Ledbury, Herefordshire.
The 56 is 8hp, 2 speeds which are selected via pins in road wheel hub, the long pin is inserted on left for low and right for high gear.
I have operators manual and spares list which I can e mail if you send me a pm with your e mail address. I have never seen a workshop manual for these machines. Original engineering drawings are at MERL, Reading, drawing number is usually same as part number.
Petrol/oil mix is 6% and gearbox oil should be straight 140, I use Morris Oils AG140.September 3, 2018 at 8:22 am #29212

charlieKeymasterThanks, it looks as if 35 and 56 are covered. I will bring a 5 and a 30, not sure if they will be running as it is a long time since they last came out of the shed. I will have a working model 122, at least that is what I think it is, and one other non runner, you will have to come to Weeley to see what it is.

charlieKeymasterSomewhere in the back issues of The Cultivator, available to club members on this website, is an article I did about replacing the cables.

charlieKeymasterIan, if you send me a personal message with your e mail account I can send owners manual and parts list for machine and manual for engine. I am not aware of a workshop manual for the machine. Engine parts are available from a number of suppliers eg Meetens and Villiers Parts. Seals and bearings should be available from any good bearing supplier. I can supply the clutch disc if you need one, also waterslide transfer for miller cover. For control cables I buy cable inner and outer, ferrules and nipples from motorcycle parts suppliers eg trialsbits or feked.com
I am also custodian of the factory records and supply date of delivery from machine serial number.
The original engineering drawings are held at MERL in Reading.August 28, 2018 at 10:46 am #29167

charlieKeymasterYou may need larger wheels, the photo of 35 with plough shows pneumatic tyres fitted. The 56 also has pnematics when ploughing.

charlieKeymasterI have data sheet with exploded parts diagram for the WICO A if you need one.

charlieKeymasterI never use the timing marks on Villiers engines. I always set timing by setting piston at correct position eg 1/8″ BTDC for a MK15, then set flywheel so points are just opening. Checking several times during tightening of flywheel to make sure it has not moved.

charlieKeymasterGearbox oil should be straight 140 eg Morris Oils AG140.
August 16, 2018 at 8:19 am #29116
