Yes you will need RTA insurance on the rally field, you will not need to register or tax the MG5, insurance will be against machine serial number rather than registration number. A number of insurance companies can provide suitable cover approx £30-£40 a year will also cover for theft as well in most cases. I used the NFU when I had an MG2. If the insurance company tells you it needs to be registered try somewhere else as they obviously do not know what they are talking about.

Send them to the editor, details in The Cultivator, bottom of page 2. Non club members can send ‘for sale’ ads to vhgmc@btinternet.com. Non club members cannot place ‘wanted’ ads.

I think it is a hiccup with the site. WE recently moved members from trial to paid and I think this is where problem occurred. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

Look forward to seeing pictures. Have a look for a brass tag with a serial number on it on lh side of casting around flywheel.

A great bonus, bet you wouldn’t be able to find one of those bags if you were looking for one.

I am guessing it is the old problem of a reaction between the two types of paint/lacquer.

nigel, have a look at SIMAR lots of info and photos. I also have owners manual and parts list. Under the cowling is a more square looking cover.

Phil,no idea what it is, I don’t get it and nobody else has mentioned it. Next time it happens can you take a copy of the screen, (use the ‘prt scr’ button located to right of F1-F12 keys at top of keyboard. Then open word and paste and save document), you can then e mail it to me so I can see what the problem is.

Always better to have a machine up and running than sat in a corner with no engine. You can always convert to correct engine at a later date if you want/find one. 8hp should be enough, the SIMAR 56 is an 8hp 2 stroke and pulls a similar sized plough, (might even be a bit bigger). I remember a group of us discussing the subject of cleaning up ploughs and someone suggested finding a suitable beach, the only problem would be the salt rusting the plough very quickly after work finished.
