Participantcould be an issue with a poor seal on your carby meaning its suckin air where carby fits on rather then the fuel from the bowl? although even with that easy start usually will let it fire

ParticipantHi all,
Bit of an update for yas,
Well we won the auction on ebay and now own a BMB Hoe mate, gave the fella a call and asked if he has the bonnet, guards and cowl for the engine, long story short he has no idea and when we go to collect we have to take extra money just in case we like something else the fella has, he has allot of small engines (villiers, JAP) etc, so we will probably end up bringin a large load home with us.Thanks for the help with this i will keep you updated with what we do drag home from the fella 🙂

ParticipantThanks Stuart,
Yes when it comes to the time to do something with it i will certainly jump on here to get what i need to fabricate those parts.
we have the same problem, we have just over 70 hoes now and when ya want the one in the back of the shed its a bit of a nuisance. And a couple of barrel mowers have just turned up, and then theres everything else and suddenly it becomes a big job to get the machine out that you want.
Thanks,

Participantyes that would probably be the best option i have quite a number of spare villiers engine cowls.
i would however require a good set of photos of an original cowl to work towards..further to the engine cowl i also require photos with measurements or even a pattern of the pannel work and front cowl photos in an effort to replicate it as the machine were looking at is missing all tin work
Thanks,

Participanti should have thought of that i guess, well it would seem that the machine im looking at is also missing the engine cowl worst luck, and im also guessing that finding one might be a touch on the difficult side especially over here in AUS.
aluminium and not just mild steel, thats a little different in itself.
thanks for you help,

ParticipantThanks for the help both, you were certainly right when you said it was a BMB, it however has no bonnet nor the alloy front cowl… how hard are these to find/fabricate?
another question i have to ask is what is their tyre size, they are pneumatic ones…
also did the little spryt engine ever have a cowl? could one of you provide me with a couple of the photos please,
a rough estimate of value based on no bonnet or cowl, unknown engine condition, does turn over and has 3 implements in good condition with only surface rust.
thanks,

ParticipantIm aware they were originally designed by a smart farmer over here i found the history on them a few months ago when i was trying to find somewhere to get them. So is ebay the only place i’m likely to find them?, the are around 25 bucks AU, and i believe i’m going to need quite a few. I was hoping to be able to find a store that might stock them, and as i typed this i realized the best place to try, a local store that has everything you’d expect and everything you wouldn’t believe he would have.
i borrowed one off me uncle to put on me farmers boy that for some unexplained reason lost spark while running, we couldn’t figure out the reason so we put that on, it doesnt run as well as it did but it does run.
Thanks for your help

Participant@charlie i was gunna ask for such closer to the date so that any such material is up to date if it alters at any point. and i was also goin to enquire about a design of a banner that we could have made for the rallys we attend.

ParticipantTheres a big rally commin up locally, Hamilton 50 k’s from home and where i work just won the right to host the 2017 NHMA national rally, apparently the biggest rally in the southern hemisphere, so will have to get both trailers loaded up for that one… I’ve already started working on getting more of my machines up to scratch ready ..
March 5, 2015 at 7:01 pm #11951arikispencer
ParticipantNo couldn’t get any more on as me older brother had the other big trailer, but i think we had a fair sized load on as it was anyway.
I’ll send through the photos now if they will send.
Thanks,

ParticipantReg was still around just prior to christmas, age 90, he was still able to drive his truck out of the shed for me and dad to load up the Kelpie, Hauler and Junior we purchased from him, he has cancer and believes he has only about 2 years left, he is working on selling all of his gear. yes i seen the photos of the rust piles he built that machine from, he built a whole new chasis and steering setup for it, it was an amazing machine, unfortunatly we couldnt afford it, assuming that the Alis springs truck museum did take all his trucks as they had first option on them. It was probably my post about the trip to gold coast to pick up stuff that you read he was still around?
Thanks,
