    Here is a very unusual hand tool. It is in Pembrokeshire and is about 10 feet in height.

    Before you ask, I do know what it is but that’s because the owner told me! Otherwise I wouldn’t have known; I wonder how many of these are still around.

    First clue:- The cylindrical piece at the base does not have a bottom.

    Maybe for taking a core or plug sample from something deep, possibly a peat bog?.

    I think it is water orientated, either for well digging or bore hole digging.
