Well, I am now putting this gem back together, and have run into a problem that I need expert advise on! the machine is an early series 2, but without the quadrant gear lever set up, The PROBLEM! when I stripped it down there was no lining material on the rotor drive piece, I assumed that it had simply worn away over the years, so I got a company to bond on new friction lining, and a good job they did, NOW! when I try to assemble the rotor shaft there is not enough room to fit the springs and nuts! the linings as you can see from the photo is only about 1/8″ thick on both sides, but it is enough to prevent the nuts going on the studs, as I see it i have a choice of taking off the lining, did they have linings? or remove the existing studs and fit longer ones to accomodate the new thickness, any suggestions PLEASE?
