ParticipantOrd and Maddison is a name I am not familiar with, were they a large concern and what other products did they manufacture ?.
My late father told me that animal feed was supplied in compressed slabs such as Linseed which were put through a cake crusher or breaker and then used to bulk out milled corn for animal feed thereby reducing cost. What other seeds or materials were supplied in this form ?

Memberthanks for asking. ord and maddisson where large quarry owners from county durham.they specialised in quarry products for many years, but also in darlington co durham had a steel fabrication shop and made items large and small in cast iorn. darlington had a large repair works for trains, and I think that wagon works and repairs on all rolling stock helped ord and maddisson keep there foundry going as well as farm machinery. now the only other product which went through this crusher was cotton seed cake which was high in protein, this is where I have got part of the name from in the project title. thanks for your enquirey. john .

Memberhello martin.a keen eye has spotted this and its good to get a proffesionals comment,it keeps you on your toes. steve d also spotted the deliberate mistake and as we all know, white paint turns yellow with age and when you have seen a lister with some age on it,you will notice the colour changes in time due to heat fuel stains and the lack of a wash. so what I did was try to match an old engines paint colour and paint mine so that it looked aged.

MemberHave got back the spacer which is going inside the uprated flat pulley so we can reduce the crusher to a slower speed. sounds high tech but I would not be happy if with to much speed it flew apart at a demonstration at a show. some new photos of whats happened. also the old flat pulley has be put on the other end of drive to give me a external point to drive something else if needed.

MemberWoke up this morning and as I passed the calendar a show at the end of this month caught my eye. Blimey I was not ready by any means. This year I will show the two items in this project but the trailer which I need to mount them both on is not ready. Panic set in as I only have 3 weekends to complete. So out with the trailer at 7 am and proceeded to drill 8 holes for the corner steadys and 1 for the hand winch anchor point. Luckily I had bought the clamps and nuts, bolts and washers needed for the fixing to chassis. The next part is the worst as I need to bolt down engine and crusher in PERFECT alignment for the flat belt to stop on. Never exhibited a machine with belt before so the last thing I need on show day is a repetitive belt continually coming off.
