Gearbox looks like a Ford one, though I’m not sure of the model. Fords never changed much if they could help it. My dad bought his first car, a 1936 Ford 8 in 1946, during the war they couldn’t get petrol so it ended up as a hen house! Father had to put an engine in and Mother made the headlining out of army blankets!

I’m just renewing, thanks to Charlie’s timely reminder! Another reminder, don’t be heading to Malvern at the end of February expecting to visit the Tractor World Show, it’s on 21st & 22nd of May and it should be warmer!

Cheers, Andy, this book is published by the STRI and was probably required reading for aspiring groundsmen.

I used to visit Devizes T.H.White when I was delivering for Interlink, they were converting trucks with Palfinger cranes.

They could be early Merry Tiller ones, Early type C Merry Tillers had a fabricated hitch with a round hole, after about 1961 the Model D came along and they used a cast hitch with a rectangular hole, early round accessories would fit the Model D.

The engine number should give you the date to the day when the engine was built. Their website should help to decipher it. https://www.briggsandstratton.com/eu/en_gb/home.html
