ParticipantThank you for those kind words Geoff. Can I thank Alan for all the hard work he has already done and for what he has still got to do. He has kindly offered to finish off my second volume which is on garden tools and related products (trademarks and logos again). This will be completed over the next few months once I have gathered together all the information that I have plus all that has been sent to me by Charlie Moore and Pat Biggs over the last few years – my thanks to them.
Apologies to anyone who purchased the printed copy of the Sprayers Book, for the fact that is now free to members via this website. However, you can always say that you have a Collectors copy, as so few were sold. It was not the easiest way to publish, printing out on a home printer and the cost barely covered the ink and paper involved.
Can I wish all the members a very Happy Christmas and New Year, and roll on the 2018 Rally season and some find weather for next Spring and Summer.
Regards to everyone

ParticipantMy issue has arrived in the post today thanks. Glad to see that the sale of our Irus cultivators made it into this months’ edition, Alan.

So sorry to hear of your bereavements over the past six months, hope you are getting plenty of support from the horticultural members of your local club. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting your area and attending the rallies in October for a few years.

ParticipantCharlie, as this is the update version of the Directory is it necessary for me to say that my details remain the same? Hope you had a good Christmas and best wishes to the family for the New Year.

Hi Ivan
I presume that the photo is of a child sized Web, judging by its position next to your Fireplace and cards?I will bring you some information and the little booklet that goes with machine when I see you in Sandringham. I presume you are going this year?
Regards

ParticipantLooks very like the Country Gentleman’s Association General Price Guides that were produced annually around that time. They didn’t tend to put brand names on many items either, although they did advertise a wide range of Four Oaks sprayer items.

Next item for your lawn edger display would have to be the Ransomes Lawn Edger – very collectable, reasonably rare and definitely not a cheap buy (unless you are very lucky). The early examples can, I believe, date from 1910 onwards.Picture is courtesy of Wristpin (found on another forum!!) as I couldn’t find a picture of our Ransomes Lawn Edger; the information is from the sheet that we put with our edger at a rally.

ParticipantI have looked up the archives of the ‘old forum’ as I remember posting advertising pictures of Greensleeves items on there some time ago. Greensleeves was discussed quite extensively in early 2010.
I have retrieved those pictures and now intend to put them here on the new forum – hopefully!
The first picture is from the Carters Seeds – Blue Book of Gardening Catalogue 1961. Greensleeves products were manufactured by Mitchel & King Limited, Slough.
The second picture is from the 1967 Catalogue of Garden Equipment by Hardware Distributors (Yorkshire) Ltd of Leeds.
Just click on the picture to open it out fully.

ParticipantI have managed to get the text ‘bold’ as you can see(?). I did this by clicking on the /b in the first box at the top of the box where we type our post. You then have to remember to click the /b again at the end of your post or it won’t work.
I did try to also get the text larger but I have failed with this so far, as you can see by the fact that I edited by post twice – I will keep on trying.
On second thoughts I’m not even sure that the ‘bold’ has worked as the text looks very similar to that submitted by Ray in the post before! Ah well, keep on trying!

ParticipantHopefully I have just entered the right codes to make this text ‘bolder’ than the normal text which has been in the topics posted so far. If it works when I submit this post, then I will submit another post with how it managed to do the bold.
At the moment I really think I will miss the preview box to see how an item will look before it is posted, but perhaps the web developers may be able to rectify this in the future.

ParticipantHi Gareth
I had a look at your problem and I think that the way to do it might be – click on projects and at the bottom of the posts already there there is a statement “create new topic”. Type in your post there and it should come up as a new topic with the heading that you have set for it. Try it and see if I’m right!!! PUt a post here to let me know how you got on.Jean
