I believe that early MG2s had their serial no. on the body to the left of the engine, assuming that the serial no. plate at the back no longer exists. The engine no should be next to the oil filler. A picture of the wheels and load bearing rollers would be useful as early MG2s had different wheels to the later machines.

Sorry to hear that you are parting with your collection, I wondered if MERL would be interested as they have the Ransomes archives or the Rural Life Centre at Tilford or similiar. Perhaps Neil Jarret may know of somebody who would like your collection.

This website has a section on ploughing which is worth reading.
Not knowing where you are I suggest you go to a ploughing match, they often have a horticultural class. The Society of Ploughmen website is a good place to start:-

Did chairperson work at the Trusty factory as a lad?
The works picture looks Chair Geoff as a lad.

Either that or the Chairperson’s father had a bicycle!!!

Thank you Mr Haggle, I know it is short notice and also clashes with Tractorfest.

The plan is for everyone to meet up at 1pm each day at the Ransomes display at Tractor World Malvern. Look forward to seeing you there.

It’s worth a try cleaning them up, I have a Ransomes plough that had been very well weathered but with a bit of persuasion got all the oil nipples working.
