jtg1Participanti believe so , or very closely related. if it aint broke dont try to fix it comes to mind! plus moulds would have been on the shelf, as these were to try and compete with the foreign imports at the time, and the likes of merry tiller and danarm that were about in the late sixties and early seventies. the 55 was later altered so it didn’t have a bonnet and side casing, and just had a pully and belt guard, to cut costs further.

jtg1Participantdefinately looks boby esk, although frame castings look slightly different to anything i have. they are from bury st edmonds same as boby, so assume they were taken over, as they themselves took over the originator of that style of drill, josiah le butt, in the 1880’s

jtg1Participantthe usual way to repair tubular handles like that, depending where the break is is to insert a heavy section tube inside the original for some length either side of the break. drill the original handle with half a dozen holes either side of the break so you can plug weld through to the inner suporting tube, then simply weld round the break in the tube and tidy up with a flep wheel on a grinder. very strong and hopefully invisible with a drop of paint. 35c handles are renound for rotting, so finding replacements will be difficult

jtg1Participantany info gratefully recieved , as its very thin on the ground for coleby. some larger shots of the plough and cultivator on your avitar would be good too, as yet to see a genuine plough for a 2 wheeler

jtg1Participantthey all seem to be different, almost as if each one was built individually! mine has a very wide axle, which is a real nuisance in the shed as it takes up too much space
