• Good Afternoon All.

I have been looking for a heavy duty steel shaft digging fork, shovel and spade as I’m fed up with snapping wooden handled ones! I had a brief look at the Bulldog forks in Wickes and was shocked by how cheap they were and then again (less so after seeing the price) at how poorly made they looked. I’ve used older Bulldog tools…[Read more]

  • Good Morning all.

I’ve been restoring a Wolseley Clearway lately. It was in a fairly sorry state so it’s been a fairly extensive job. Obviously as Wolseley don’t exist anymore (at least not in a horticultural sense) Parts are hard to come by.

However most the parts are available if you know where to look. Most the engine parts are available…[Read more]

  • Hi all, a bit of a long one but it may be of interest to some of you!

I’ve been slowly amassing various Merry Tillers and implements over the past year. I’m trying with the help of various brochures to get an example of every machine and every implement. I have about 1/3 of the machines covered but at the moment I’m more interested in the…[Read more]

  • Thankyou all for your replies. I’ll have to have a play with various spacings and methods next year. Seems fairly unanimous to use an inner set of tines of one variety or another which will give a good reduction in width. I do have a set of crop guard tines, both disk and inward turned rotors so might give those a go too to see how I get on.

  • Hi all. At the start of this year I planted my Potatoes at 26 inches between the rows. Bulking them up worked well with my merry tiller and potato ridger, but only when the plants were just above the surface. We’ve had a fair bit of rain lately and it’s begun to level off my ridges so I thought I’d run the machine through again just to bulk the…[Read more]

  • Good Evening all. Relatively new here, so firstly hello! Secondly sorry for the long post!

I have a small Merry Tiller collection and am in the process of going through a lot of it as I’ve suddenly got a lot of time on my hands with the current world situation… I’ve got 1 5hp Titan GT, 1 7hp Titan GT, 2 Project Titan GTs (currently not…[Read more]

  • Wristpin, I think that I have attached the brochure that tallies with moggyjim’s machine. I believe that moggyjims machine pre dates the style shown in your brochure. The style in the brochure you showed was being produced from 1983 with some slight differences, so I imagine your brochure must be late 80s or early 80’s? Your suggestion regarding…[Read more]

  • I believe, although not an expert that the 7hp briggs is relatively rare in the UK, so you may struggle to find a 7hp cowl and recoil. I am also pretty sure though that the 8hp and maybe even the 9hp has the same size cowl and recoil and that the 8 is much more common in the UK. You might want to wait for someone more knowledgeable than I to…[Read more]

  • Ah, a good buy, I was tempted by this myself on ebay. It is a 7hp engine on these later style titan gts. First port of call for me would be to take the belt off then take the spark plug out and turn the flywheel by hand (throttle in the run position) and check for a spark. If you have a spark I’d also put a torch in the fuel tank and see what…[Read more]
