    Thanks

What are you displaying? Club insurance provides public liability cover, but does not cover ride on machines eg Ransmomes MG, Wheel Horse etc as these need RTA cover, but do not need tax or registration.

Ransomes Digger Dozer and Whitlock WR8 in a static display.
    What is RTA cover?

RTA Road Traffic Act. You can get cover through NFU among others.

Following changes to the Road Traffic Act a few years ago, places such as showground and rally fields became ‘public places’ and any motor vehicle requires RTA cover, even if static. The vehicle does not need to be registered, taxed or MOT’d, insuranace can be issued based on machine serial number rather than registration number. The cover does not extend to use on public highway. Beware some insurers are not fully switched on and may insist vehicle is taxed etc, they are wrong.

    Many thanks.
Given that there are a huge number of members owning wheeled or tracked machines, is it something that could be looked at so that all members can get full value from membership without having to seek separate cover. Apologies if this has been raised previously.

The questions has been raised before. Whilst a number of members do have machines requiring RTA cover we also have members that do not need the public liability cover. The existing insurance makes up only 10% of membership fee. To add RTA cover would add a huge increase. There would also be the complexity of administration as each members machine requiring RTA cover would need recording and machine specific insurance documentation issued. I am not aware of any club offering RTA (show and rally) cover as part of membership.
