If you need any more help at least you know where we are now, and thanks for letting us know how it worked out.

    Hi Folks,

thankfully other then normal maintenance, I have had no problems with my Motor Triple for the last 2 years.

Now I have an issue which I am struggling to figure out. Any advice would be appreciated.

When cutting, it keeps throwing the vee belt off for the rear (middle cylinder) I replaced the vee belt as it was cracked and worn.

With the new belt on I thought I would be sorted but unfortunalely not. It is still throwing the belt off.

If the machine is stationary and I engage the cylinders, all three will spin fine but once I start driving, the belt will come off within 100 meters.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

Uninformed guess ! The unit’s pulley is slightly out of line with the one driving it. Try a straight edge across the unit’s pulley and see how it lines up with the one driving it.

That sounds about right- once you start moving the middle unit is not tracking in line. Try pushing and pulling it side to side when it’s on the ground (and not when the engine is running!).

Possible causes of sideways movement is wear in the oilite bushes on the front pivot of the S-frames, otherwise there may be a fracture in the brackets holding the middle unit to the S-frames. I’ve come across both in my time, but the result is the same- the pulleys run out of line and the belt comes off.

    Good luck.

    Thank you wrisrpin and trusty220,
Yes, there is a good bit of sideways movement as you can see from the photos.
I’ll investigate the cause and report back.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
