vhgmcbuddyMemberHi I have just got my ransomes crawler running and have noticed the oil level in the engine is rising.
I have been running the engine with the air supply hose between the carb and the air filter removed as it is poor condition. I am wondering if it is fuel getting into the sump any advice would me most welcomeApril 19, 2015 at 1:12 pm #12631expeatfarmer
ParticipantAlec
If your tractor has not run for some time it may be that the crank shaft chamber has collected a quantity of oil which now you are running the engine is being drawn out by the scavenger pump and fed back into the oil tank. This should stop when the chamber is empty. Take a sample of oil out of the tank and see if it smells of petrol to check if it is fuel related. Is it just the hose to the air filter that is in poor condition if so Neil Jarrett carries a stock of these.April 19, 2015 at 2:25 pm #12632

Tried running the engine but the oil level started to rise

Any one got any ideasApril 19, 2015 at 4:52 pm #12634andyfrost

ParticipantThat sounds the likely answer maybe the diaphragm has split

vhgmcbuddyMemberI will order a new diaphragm for the fuel pump
As that looks like the problem
Then change the oil once I am sure the pump is not leaking into the sumpApril 20, 2015 at 6:11 pm #12664expeatfarmer
Participantsounds like a good plan Alec

vhgmcbuddyMemberHave now changed the oil after fixing the fuel pump and all seems well
But I may do a second oil change as I found that there was no felt washers at the end of the oil filter.
Neil does not have this spare
Has any one got a fix ? Could I fit a rubber one ?May 16, 2015 at 7:30 am #13080expeatfarmer
ParticipantSometimes the felt sticks inside the filter housing may be worth checking with a torch.
I made a new one a while ago using carpet felt I used two layers of felt which I soaked with water and put in the freezer and then cut the hole whilst frozen .May 16, 2015 at 11:13 am #13086
vhgmcbuddyMemberThank for idea
I will give it a try -
