    Hello

I wonder if anyone can help me. We have recently moved house. We have started to clear the garden and found an old lawn roller under a very big conifer tree! My husband has put it online to sell and I am astonished at the amount of interest it has been shown so far. I have tried to find out more information about it but can’t seem to find anything on the internet like it. It has really now got me intrigued. Can anyone shed any light on it? How old do you think it might be? And why does it have a really long lopsided handle? There are no markings that I can see. It has a big weight inside the drum. Look forward to any replies. Thanks!

At a guess the old wooden handle rotted out and a enterprising
gardener hammered a metal spike in so he could carry on rolling
    the lawn.

Your lawn roller has very ornate castings and is probably late 19th or early 20th century. There are quite a few collectors of lawn rollers and also they display well with lawnmowers of similar age. The only problem is the weight!
Are you sure there is no name on the castings or the handle or perhaps evidence of a missing label.
