Recently purchased a British Anzani iron Horse and am having the old Zenith carb refurbed by ‘Villiersparts’. I have been asked what size engine it has to determine the main jet size in the likelyhood of it having to be drilled out and told that these machines were fitted with a variety of J.A.P. engine sizes. I.e. Model 5 is 412cc, Model 4/3 is 288cc, model 4/2 is 245cc, model 6 is 588cc. My understanding is that they were all fitted with the same 6hp lump, but I don’t know the cc. The chap I bought it from told me it was 440cc, but apparently this size was not fitted to these machines. Could anyone help please?

The first letter of the engine number will indicate the capacity. If you google JAP engine numbers you will find the relevant information. This is one link I found JAP engine number coding
