    Hi,

I am restoring a Howard Bantam Rotavator and I am now working on the rotor. There is an oil leak there so I want to replace the oil seals. Does anyone know how to take the rotor apart?

    Best Regards

Bantam 38300 appears to be a 1956 made machine.

I am working on a Howard Bantam with a Villiers MK 15 HS engine. Does anyone know what type of carburetor it has? It is shown on the attached photo. I am looking for spare parts for the carburetor.

    Best Regards

    Bo

I’ve got a Yeoman and it’s hard to find the build dates for Howards. The only thing I know about the Bantam is they were first built late 40’s/early 50’s and finished production in 1961. The later models had the Villers mk15 engine so your’s should be late 50’s early 60’s. If you need any parts oils etc the green spark plug co is a good place to look.

    Hi All
I am extending my garden and managed to get my hands on this Howard Bantam Rotavator.

Its does need a bit of TLC but it is running and did what it should when I had a test run the other night. The Villiers engine is running ok for not being started for a couple of years.

I am interested how I might go about determining the age of Bantam based of the machine number

If any one has any tips or advice about using / maintaining these feel free to chip in.

Dad has decided to resurrect his Bantam and finger bar attachment so he can race against me and my scythe to get the field cut before the wet really gets set in but we think we need to separate the drive shaft of the attachment to get a replacement left hand thread bolt that retains the end bearing and drive link bar.it would be easier to take the small round piece with the threaded hole in it to the nut and bolt man than carting the whole assembly around can any one give guidance on how to remove the end bit with the threaded lug

I did the same with a Howard Yeoman, the build quality was so good I overhauled the whole thing. I’ve also got a Bantam Scythe which I’m overhauling at the moment to adapt to fit the Yeoman. It’s one of those jobs that fiddle with from time to time do among all the other jobs.

    Hi everyone,
I am restoring a Howard Bantam and wondered if anyone had any knowledge of an un-usual seal that is riveted inside the gearbox – it appears that a bronze bushing that supports the axle is riveted (using copper rivets) and that an oil seal is attached somehow – I haven’t taken it out yet – but a pet peeve is leaking oil so I always try to replace oil seals. Does anyone have any experience of this part of the machine? Any guidance welcome…
    Thanks,
    Neil

Here’s a drawing and parts list for the S12, on our machines they were only used on Howard Bantams with Mk15 engines but small motorcycles had them as well.

I have just become the proud owner of a Howard Bantam.
Is anyone able to tell me what the numbers on this plate refer to. I’m particularly interested in her year of manufacture.

    Many thanks.

Castrol R at 16:1 smells amazing in my 2 stroke Howard Bantam. It runs really well on it too. Couldn’t possibly comment on how good it is for the engine in long term though.
