On edit- having a problem with attaching the image . Half of it being cropped and as there is no preview option no way of seeing what will be shown without submitting it. Going to try again with reduced image size but will admin please remove the second post.October 24, 2013 at 6:49 pm #1835wristpin

ParticipantDon’t give up on your existing engine, may just be dirty points or carb – all easily fixed and nice to keep it original.

ParticipantThanks for the explanation – I am a bit confused by the Link option when it says “enter the destination URL” would expect it so say “source” if one is importing content from elsewhere and destination if exporting it?
It does seem that one can set up a hyper-link by just copying and pasting a web address with no reference to those buttons , for example-

ParticipantOther thing that I have notices is that the edit button comes and goes. originally thought that it only disappeared after the first edit – no second chance. However when I posted yesterday it wasn’t there at all!
Would be nice to be able to set Bold as a default but if you hit the button twice and then type between the middle arrows everything typed is bold or “strong” as they call it.
Also seems that the only one of the buttons that identifies itself when the mouse is hovered over it is the last “close tags” , no idea what uf, ol and li are at all!
If there was a preview post option it would be easier to experiment without the risk of sending a load of garbage.October 22, 2013 at 4:32 pm #1680wristpin
ParticipantThanks for the reassurance – 28 and 34″. Those cone clutches were a bit vicious to use but were ok so long as treated properly but people would over lubricate them and the machined cast cone and concave seemed to absorb oil and then required serious wash in petrol or thinners.

ParticipantYou may be right about the carb top, after all you are the man on the spot but I think it far more likely that either the taper on the needle is worn allowing it to rise too far or the float is distorted/damaged and consequently incorrectly positioned on the needle. Have seen floats crushed and distorted by water accumulating in the carb bowl and then freezing.

ParticipantStill got a couple of those root pruning blades grafted onto file handles – good scrapers for under deck cleaning etc!

ParticipantPossibly totally irrelevant but my Dennis “hates” NGK plugs. Will run once with a new one but then no more. A while back there was a post on this forum ,from I think Charlie, explaining that on old KLGs etc the centre ceramic insulator was glazed and “self cleaning” where as on modern plugs it is not and in “our” applications is prone to fouling and shorting out the spark.
May be worth looking in auto jumbles etc for some old plugs. At present I’m running the Dennis on a “replica” plug from Villiers Services (don’t confuse with Villiers Parts) and it has run well on it all season. Would give you a link but their site seems to be down.October 19, 2013 at 1:21 pm #1392wristpin
ParticipantNot had a problem with the edit function other than one only seems to get one crack at it, if one goes back for a second go the edit option seems to have disappeared!
Correction! do now seem to be able to edit more than once!
Reverting to the avatar question, perhaps admin can tell us the optimum image pixel size for submission.October 19, 2013 at 7:44 am #1369wristpin
