ParticipantYou’re welcome Dan.
Always good to find manuals on the net for free!

ParticipantFinally got round to changing oils in advance of working event season. Never seen oil like it! Thick as thick custard and about the same colour. Methinks service long overdue! Even after flushing new oil now looks on the emulsiony side so guess I’ll change again at the end of the year. The rotor drive oil was the worst, almost too thick to run out. Anyway also sorted out clutch adjustment. After having found shards of metal on the gearbox drain plug I just had to do that! Now selects gears perfectly. Amongst other stuff also adjusted slow running with the excellent results below. The sharp eyed among you may notice I have painted the paint pot which is serving as a temporary cover to the linkages pending eventually sourcing or having made a proper cover.

ParticipantHi Dan
I used to have a Hatz Diesel Gem. Never did any major work to it, but there’s a manual here you may find useful if you haven’t already got it. Good luck!

ParticipantSorry Charlie. Should have made clear I only got plough recently! Andy, very proud is right, champing at the bit to use it!
I’ll tentatively suggest I’ll bring 56 plough and 5 (if 5 not playing up!)May 6, 2018 at 6:37 pm #28467roatavator
ParticipantWell, I’ll kick off. Assuming they’re running I can potentially bring any two of 5, 30, 35, 50, 56 tiller, 56 plough. I’ll try and bring anything others can’t.

ParticipantI expect with a bit of planning we could cover most of those, not sure about 10 unless you’re keeping something up your sleeve Charlie! Perhaps if we all said up front which we would like to or could bring we’d get more variety.

ParticipantCan’t wait! I’ll be there at least one of the days. See if I can bring a couple of the noisy ones.

ParticipantThanks Charlie. Clearly I’ll have to buy a new edition, it’s not in my “50 years “!
Funny how SIMARS have a way of getting under your skin, isn’t it?

ParticipantI love the idea of a steam mower. In practice I would imagine in this country by the time you’d got steam up it would have started raining!
Charlie, I’ve tried googling them but can’t find any info. Got details or a photo?
Thanks.
I guess being into Monro was what got you on to SIMARS?

ParticipantInteresting you should say that Sean. I’m thinking when I get too old to walk behind my current collection I’ll probably have to slim down and get an MG I can sit on. Mind you, driving it up the ramps on to the high bed of the Commer might be interesting!!
Also had another thought on dream machine. Australian Howard 12, but as apparently unknown over here I don’t think the wallet or wife will be put under stress!

ParticipantHello Ian
I’ve taken lots of photos and measurements. PM me your email address and I’ll send them through, it will save me having to shrink the photos!
