roatavatorParticipantI’ll watch! No way I’ll be going for a walk behind a SIMAR, holding up handlebars all the way.

roatavatorParticipantYou got me thinking Charlie. I know the 56 hasn’t been resprayed for sure. Not sure about 35. Owners didn’t think it had when I bought it. Both machines stored under cover all their lives. Overspray might indicate a respray, but you’ll see from the photos there’s overspray on the 56 identification plate and on the 35 mag. Clearly Monros were a bit sloppy. There’s no decal on the 35 miller cover. Lack of one might indicate resprayed, but I’m not sure they were all supplied with one. Do you know?
Machines only a few years different in age, so paint difference not age related. My gut feeling that Monros used whatever shade paint was available.August 13, 2017 at 10:18 pm #26268
roatavatorParticipantThere’s no doubt they’re missing out. I know some people find some websites daunting, but I tell them if I can do it anyone can! It will be interesting to see if we get any new members posting after your guide. Thanks Alan.

roatavatorParticipantCan’t recommend this event enough. Really varied horticultural section, loads of other stuff, whole family went today and had a good time. Thanks to everyone involved for putting on such a friendly event.

roatavatorParticipantInteresting comparison between A5 and 56. A5 very heavy on the miller end, to the extent that even on a very shallow setting for depth the rear weight bias makes it dig in too deep and you have to walk along pulling up on handlebars. I’ve seen some A series with wheels at the rear of the miller, presumably they are more effective. 56 on the other hand very well balanced, goes at the depth you’ve set with no bother. I’ve done a days work behind the 56 many times but half an hour with the A 5 is more than enough!

roatavatorParticipantWeather held. Great first day. Now totally worn out. Will be there tomorrow with 56 and 35. Will try to remember to post photos but have to remember to take them first! Best bit was the hog roast bap with stuffing and apple sauce followed by donuts.

roatavatorParticipantLoaded up 56 and A5 for tomorrow. Probably take 35 and 30 Sunday so should have made enough noise by the end of the weekend. What’s anyone else taking?

roatavatorParticipantWell SIMARs and Commer ready, all we need now is the weather. Hopefully forecast will prove to have been overly pessimistic. Otherwise might need a snorkel!

roatavatorParticipantLooks like I might be committed. Or perhaps I should be….
