Trusty skimmer

Hi all,

I’m looking for a skimmer for the disc coulter of a Trusty tractor plough. Are they available?

If not am I allowed to use (I refer mainly to ploughing matches) a skimmer from something else, such as Ransomes or Kverneland?

They aren’t available I’m afraid. Most people adapt another make of skimmer to suit the Trusty disc to get over the problem, but don’t stop looking for a genuine one, they do come up occasionally but you will normally have to buy a whole plough to get the skimmer.

Thanks Geoff, if I did that would I be able to compete at ploughing matches? I only ask the question as I thought I had read somewhere that – essentially – everything on the plough had to be original, or from the correct time period or something.

That’s normally the case but when the original is so rare there has to be a certain amount of discretion used. So long as it looks and works in a similar way to the original nobody will pick you up on it.
