This is the second year that we have attended as a club to this huge show and it was very well attended by public and exhibitors alike. The weather could have been better but the show organisers were on the ball and stopped any vehicle movements as soon as the ground started to get soggy, so it dried up pretty quickly afterwards with no great areas of swamp like you see at some rallies after a downpour.

Andrew Hall (aka Big Ears) organised the section and it did give a good representation of everything we are about in this club, from Sprayerman’s collection of spraying equipment, Charlie Moore’s collection of horticultural brochures and books and a variety of the machinery we all collect as well as a small slice of vintage and veteran mowers from the Hall and Duck Collection.

A pity we didn’t get the chance to drive anything around the main ring this year but conditions didn’t allow for it with the torrential rain before and during the show. It didn’t stop Charlie from taking my roller for a joy ride, though, but he soon turned back when he saw the next raincloud coming in fast. Apparently he didn’t want to get his hair wet!

Here are some photo’s from the weekend.

Charlie forgot half of his tent poles so he couldn’t use his marquee; Big Ears stepped in and very generously said that he could use one of his tents!

I bet Charlie won’t forget any poles next time! You are right, Jim, having a large tent/marquee on the stand does give some shelter when the weather isn’t the best and we were all grateful for it over the last three days.

Yes the roofs of the marquees are hung up to dry for a few days before we can pack them away for the next show, good job we have very large barns where we store our show equipment

    Hi
This was the first time we attended South Cerney and it was well worth attending, the range of exhibits on the Club stand was wide, never mind the rest of the show, and it was great to see folk again, most of whom we hadn’t seen since BC, and to meet new ones too.

The site is large and mainly flat, the weather was typical Britain, but hey we have to have the wet to have our Green and Pleasant Land don’t we.
Really didn’t want to come away from those views, ( live in a valley at home) but said to Andrew to book us in again for next year, ticking off the days already.

Mrs Sprayerman really enjoyed her time wandering around the stalls etc

Thanks to Andrew for the loan of some space and for encouraging us to attend.
    Cheers

Just refuelled van following trip to South Cerney last weekend, majority motorway driving, as happened to be going past preferred fuel station. Filled to first pump cutout as normally do then worked out mpg. Those of you there saw how much sprayer stuff, not to mention the domestic kit, was in van and caravan was being towed too, albeit lucky enough to have a lightweight one c700kg.
For a March 2007 diesel transit connect tourneo high roof, with 140k on the clock think 39mpg is pretty decent return.

To say surprised is an understatement!

Always considered this van as a keeper, this trip confirms it.

It will be good to see you there next year, Adrian. No doubt I’ll be going as well as it’s turning out to be quite a good event for the club with plenty of members coming to see us.

There’s always room for more, so put it in your diaries for next year!
