Mystery object

Slight change from previous mystery objects. Can anyone identify what machine this is? I have told at least one member, so if it is you please let others have a go before spilling the beans. This is not one of my machines before you start guessing.

To fit a Merry Tiller to the rear cross member of a Series 1 Land Rover, perchance???

I have it on good authority that the mystery object is now safely back at Midsomer Norton! No doubt we shall be seeing more of it!

Looks similar to the S3 model but with a cast iron Clinton engine instead of the Villiers MK15.

Yes Clinton engine, the real clue is the handle bar arrangement, which is original to this machine.

I think that it is a Clinton 900 Long Life like the ones on my Merry Tiller Professional models.

Monrotiller series MG3.
This machine was made by Mechanised Gardening based on the Monrotiller series 3. Major difference is handlebar arrangement and Clinton engine. More in future issue of The Cultivator.

I wonder if Monro using the model MG3 was the reason Ransomes jumped from MG2 to MG5?
