Having finally joined the club (Trusty Earthquake owners club) I’ve now finally joined this club on my second try.
I bought a second (third/fourth/fifth?) hand Trusty Earthquake via a well known auction site as a spares or repair machine and fortunately found that it was actually in reasonable condition. A little bit of fettling later and it has now been put to good use to rotavate a couple of new veg and flower beds. It has had the original engine replaced at some time with a petrol 5.5HP MAG GS200 engine which starts and runs fine. I fitted a hand throttle as it only had an engine throttle so it is now much easier to change gear when the revs are low, then bring the revs/power up as the clutch is let out.
As with most old machinery, the blades are pretty well worn and I’ve not managed to find anywhere to buy new ones from. There seem to be plenty for Howard and other makes, but mine are sculpted around the disk they fix to and have 38mm between hole centres (I think).

Anyway, a couple of photos from the previous owner:

A very warm welcome to the club.

A very nice late series Earthquake that you have there. The Earthquake normally had only one engine speed which was set on the governer so they can be a bit of a handful at times; your modification with a throttle control will no doubt help considerably in improving it’s usability. If you let me have the serial number I will put it on the trusty Register.

Many thanks for the welcome, the serial number is TC1341 but the reg plate is quite basic!
