Hi folks,
I was looking for a solution for the layshaft bush in my Albion gearbox (fitted to a pre-war motorcycle) and I came across the following thread:

The final post was very useful to me:

Couldn’t get a bush for the Albion so I took a mainshaft bush from an old 8e ( had to smash the case but it was cracked) which fitted perfectly over the axle. I had to grind down the depth as it was too long and then because the bush was too narrow and loose I bound it with waxed string which I flattened first and oiled up.
I had seen some of the old steam men do it and bingo, fit’s like a glove and runs to perfection. The bush still had to be pressed home into the casing when I had wrapped it but it fitted just right.
One day I will have to buy a lathe but if the missus sees anything else turning up at the door I will be dog meat.

So I have the Albion HJ 4-speed box (very similar to the 3-speed) and the part number is HJ14. Similarly, the part for the H box is H14. (i.e. the ‘case’ end bush).
The kickstart end is part number HJ15 / H15.
If you look up http://www.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com , they list H14, H15, etc and ST118 and ST119 (same as HJ14/HJ15).
I think they do list some other bushes. They were happy to take one off the shelf and give me the measurements too.
Anyways, thanks to Phil for the tip. I used some waxed thread to seal mine and so far it has been a success. (I later found I can get the part for 10 GBP, but that can wait til my next gearbox service).
