Well pleased with my 1960 Pegson-Marlow/B&S water pump. Not been used since earlier this year and started first pull. Used it today to drain the ditch on my allotment. It filled two dustbins in a matter of minutes. With the suction hose well submerged the water comes out with surprising force but, due to the shallowness of the ditch most of the time it was just a steady stream rather than fire pump knock you over backwards !
my own allotment is the same may need some of those giant wheels you see used in the paddy fields.I would rather see a bit of frost, kill a few bugs and break down the soil that has been ploughed.
