Yes when I was younger and obsessed in all things OTA I did purchase a OTA tractor from a lovely chap on the Isle of Arran, going up and down in one day. The Ferry was caught in a violent storm on the return trip and it was alarming to see a lorry on the vehicle deck next to us rise up with the pitching of the deck. Unable to return to Ardrossan due to the storm we were diverted to Greenock making for a even longer trip back.
I was pestered by a chap from Fillongley where the tractors were built and remembered them from his childhood and in the end sold it to him. In the end he did not restore but sold it to Mr Tom Ranyard from near Newark who has restored it and has a number of OTA and Monarch tractors. So there was a happy ending for your old tractor.
Was there more than one OTA on Arran ?, I came across a photograph a bit back of an OTA on Arran being used to move a small boat from the beach on the tractor hydraulics, to prevent the front end lifting one chap was draped over the front of the bonnet as a counterweight !!!
