i have 2 villiers engines that i have rebuilt / restored. complete rebuild new piston, rings, re-bore, valves ect
engine starts fine and runs well but as soon as you shut revs down it stopes
any help please
be nice to have the engine tick over
Alternatively the throttle cable needs adjusting at top of carb, if too long it allows slide to drop to far and engine will stop. Adjusting length has same effect as opening throttle with lever ie it lifts the slide and needle.
Villiers v carb. With large float at bottom and primer on top.
All jets are clean and throttle is set. And don’t have a air/ slow speed adj on this carb
Not just the ignition but the cam as well, one tooth out is enough to cause odd behaviour.
Also what happens if you close the choke a smidge before shutting down.
After the rebore etc the engine may just be a bit tight.
This may be of assistance. https://www.dropbox.com/s/6w7dhhgieg4c509/Villers%20Mk12%20carb0001.pdf?dl=0
