Was the villiers XVIII used on any horticultural machines or does anyone know of villiers 249cc engines that were.

I’d appreciate any help in identifying the following engine and a date :-
Villiers 249cc Engine serial No 583 1300 Stamped on magneto 583/601
Cylinder block number B3710
