Hi, I have an early Rowtrac i.e before the number 5 and steering clutches were added. Usual story, it has been stood up for years and I’ve been doing bits to it on and off for about the last 5 years. It’s nearly at the stage of trying the engine but I can’t get the clutch to hold in the disengaged position.

Any thoughts on this would be great!

    Many thanks.

It works on an “over centre ” principal , it sounds to me that it needs simple adjustment. I assume you have checked that it is actually disengaging , the cones had a habit of sticking together if they had been standing unused for long periods.

    Andy.

Hi, thanks for your reply. The clutch drum is off at the moment and when the lever is operated you can see the shoe moving back and forth. I have tried the threaded adjustment and the different pin holes at the gearbox end. All seems free and as it should be.
