Jap 2a date

Hi can anyone tell me what date my engine is please heres the numbers they are from all over the engine

Looking at the engine number, 2AC12766CS, I would say it is a JAP 2A, dating from 1948. See this webpage for how engine numbering works.

thanks charlie but why 48 it says between 1928 to 1948 so how can i tell

also do you think i have the right carb on it as the linkage is on the side and not on the front of my carb so it dont link up to the govnor arm on engine that bit is confusing me as all its got is bit of wire connecting them that someone just stuck on there . the carb on there is a zenith t13 tca-2

Year letters were used twice, hence C is 1928 and 1948. If you look on the engine cowling you may be able to find a year stamped, the stamp can be very faint.
