Can someone tell me how to remove a rusted crankshaft pulley off a briggs and Stratton 3hp engine without breaking the pulley as I don’t think you can buy them anymore. I’ve removed the allen screw and give it a good soaking with plusgas but the pulley is still not coming off. I’ve tried a bearing puller but I think I got the wrong size.

Give it plenty of heat and use diesel to lubricate it (WD40 will not work as it simply vapourizes with the heat).Use a good fitting 3 leg puller and it will come of.Sometimes they come of easier when everything is cooled down.

Did you see my posting on your other thread ? The pulleys are still available from Merrytiller.co.uk. Cost £23.00.

Thank you for the link. I think I will have to leave the pulley on as it’s just not coming off.
