Can anyone identify this engine

Bought this engine and it has no identification markings can anyone help

Whatever it is, it appears to have had a repair to the crankcase by the look of it. Photos of the other 3 sides would help.

Is that a injector in the head.

I wouldn’t have thought so David , it appears to be sidevalve , and sidevalve diesels are extremely uncommon.

I’m going for Briggs , but stand to be corrected.

I’ve just looked again and can see the plug, and can see the oil filler plug and looks more or less plastic modern Briggs but the alloy case looks shaped older stile and not on any briggs i have seen.
