    I have two Barford wheels with the rachet setup seized. Would I be OK in undoing the four countersunk screws to have a look? I am a novice restorer, this is my first project. I have dismantled the frame which is ready for rubbing down. I hope to take the machine to Newark.

    Yes it is safe to remove the 4 screws, see diagram below for details of hub.
